Winehouse Drops Drugs Appeal

Amy Winehouse has abandoned her attempt to get a drug charge dropped by Norwegian authorities.

The troubled singer, her husband Blake Fielder-Civil and a crew member were busted with a quarter-ounce of marijuana in a hotel in 2007 in the Scandinavian country.

They all confessed to possessing the drugs, and each paid a $415 fine -- but later Amy said the police had bullied her into signing a confession for something she hadn't done.

Her lawyers launched an appeal to get the fine dropped and have the conviction overturned.

Amy was due to fight the charge in court next Monday, but she's just decided just to swallow the fine and drop the appeal, according to E! Online.

It was that conviction that meant her U.S. visa application was rejected early in 2008, forcing her to do her Grammy performances by satellite from London.

And now that she's chosen not to fight the charge, she may continue to have problems  getting permission to perform in the U.S..
