Amanda Bynes' conservatorship has officially been terminated after nearly nine years.

As reported by Radar, the judge in the troubled actress' conservatorship ruled to end the arrangement in a Los Angeles court on Tuesday, March 22, after Bynes, 35, filed a petition to end the legal binding late last month.

The ruling means that Bynes will have free control of her personal and financial choices after her mother, Lynn Bynes, served as her conservators since 2013.

The conservatorship was expected to come to an end at Tuesday's hearing after the judge tentatively ruled one day prior that there was no longer a need for it, considering the improvements Bynes has made over the years.

As OK! reported, Bynes petitioned to end the conservatorship in February, with her attorney David A. Esquibias claiming, "the protection of the court is no longer necessary," just one day after filing a capacity declaration to speak on the actress' mental state.

The Amanda Show star was first placed under the conservatorship after a series of public episodes related to mental health struggles and substance abuse.

However, the She's The Man star is said to be back on the straight and narrow, with Judge Roger L. Lund telling the court in Tuesday's hearing that Bynes has "done everything the court has asked over a long period of time," per Buzzfeed.

Her parents have also been in support of their daughter's road to independence, as her attorney insisted Bynes and her parents have maintained a "great, loving relationship," as well as have been consistently "on the same page."

Bynes' conservatorship case comes in stark contrast to Britney Spears' controversial conservatorship, which was only terminated in November 2021.

In the height of the #FreeBritney movement, Spears, 40, spoke out about the 13 years she spent under the control of her father, Jamie Spears, who she accused of running the "abusive" arrangement before he was suspended in September 2021.
