Have you ever fantasized about leaving everything behind for the shores of California or a quaint Hamptons cottage? Do you dream of someday channeling Diane Keaton in Something's Gotta Give or Meryl Streep in Mama Mia? Are you a *really* big fan of neutral-toned cardigans?

Well fortunately for you, it seems you don't have to wait until your golden years to embrace your dreams of cozy seaside serenity. Enter the "coastal grandmother" trend. Over the past several weeks, the aesthetic, best defined as if Reese Witherspoon's character in Big Little Lies had an aspirational fashion mood board, has taken the internet by storm, one bucket hat and linen shirt at a time.

"If you love Nancy Meyers movies, coastal vibes, recipes and cooking, Ina Garten, cozy interiors, and more, there's a good chance you might be a coastal grandmother," explained TikToker Lex Nicoleta, who is largely credited for coining the term, in a now-viral video. "And no, you don't have to be a grandmother to be a coastal grandmother, it's for anyone and everyone," she added.

Illustrated with photos of straw hats, light button-down long-sleeve shirts, knit turtlenecks and light/neutral monochromes alongside beach houses and gardens, the video garnered more than two million views, several responses from fashion influencers and even recognition from the aesthetics’ ultimate style icon: Keaton herself.

In light of the trend, the actress shared a video combining clips of her character from Something's Gotta Give with articles and videos detailing the coastal grandmother aesthetic.

"FROM ONE COASTAL GRANDMOTHER TO ANOTHER, THANK YOU!!!" Keaton wrote in all caps, tagging Nicoleta and filmmaker Nancy Meyers, who directed the 2003 romantic comedy.

But it's not just nostalgic millennials, beloved fashion icons and beach-residing retirees getting in on this trend. Last week, Only Murders in the Building star Selena Gomez made headlines after posting a snap of herself seemingly partaking in the aesthetic, posing in an oversized cream-colored knit cardigan on what appears to be a balcony.

"Thought this was cute," the "Lose You To Love Me" singer captioned the post, which has garnered more than 6.7 million likes in a matter of days.

Actress Anne Hathaway later followed suit, directly referencing the trend by name on Instagram.

"I have been ready for #coastalgrandmother chic since before TikTok was born," the Oscar-winner wrote alongside a picture of her sporting a white button-down shirt, cream-colored trousers and a straw bucket hat. "May this moment never end."

But even with its celebrity backing, incorporating coastal grandma fashion into your everyday wardrobe isn't hard. Channel your inner Keaton by reaching for long-sleeved textured shirts like linen button-down and knit cardigans in light, muted colors. Complete the look with light summer-y hats (we love a bucket hat) and wicker accessories for a "just visited the Hamptons" vibe.
