The actor, 63, sat down for an emotional interview with George Stephanopoulos on Thursday, December 2, where he stated that, "Someone is responsible for what happened and I can't say who that is, but I know it's not me."

However, according to TMZ, Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies is not ready to write him off just yet.

"Everyone involved in the handling and use of firearms on the set had a duty to behave in a manner such that the safety of others was protected, and it appears that certain actions and inactions contributed to this outcome," Carmack-Altwies told the outlet.

Weapons expert Steve Wolf — who has been working as a prop coordinator on set of productions for many years — also told the outlet that the claim that Baldwin did not pull the trigger is possible but that there were several other mistakes made on the set.

Wolf explained that the two other possibilities that could have resulted in the gun "misfiring" is if there was a mechanical flaw or that it may have to do with how the weapon was made.

As OK! previously reported, on October 21, Baldwin discharged a firearm on set that he thought did not contain live rounds. Halyna Hutchins — who was the director of photography on the indie film — was killed and director Joel Souza was injured.
