Matt Damon Admits He Recently Stopped Using The 'F Slur' At His Daughter's Request

Admitting that you are wrong is never easy — especially in public to an audience of hundreds of thousands of people — but Matt Damon recently did just that.

The Stillwater actor sat down for an interview with The Sunday Times, and confessed that he only recently stopped using what his daughter calls "the f slur". Usually associated with homophobic insults, Damon claimed that since his childhood it was always a slang term used in a completely different context, so he didn't truly think of the word as a slur when used the way that he chose to use the word.

"The word that my daughter calls the 'f-slur for a homosexual' was commonly used when I was a kid, with a different application."

His daughter was not having it with that explanation.

"She left the table. I said, 'Come on, that's a joke! I say it in the movie Stuck on You!'" Instead of accepting the explanation, Damon said that she "went to her room and wrote a very long, beautiful treatise on how that word is dangerous."

This hit home for the Good Will Hunting actor. "I said, 'I retire the f-slur!' I understood."

This comes in the midst of news swirling around rapper DaBaby and his homophobic rant at the Rolling Loud show on July 25, where he prompted the audience, "If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that'll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up."

Following his inflammatory comments directed at the LGBTQ+ community, Lollapalooza officially cut DaBaby from their lineup.

The famous music festival posted explained their decision on Twitter, saying that Lollapalooza was founded on "diversity, inclusivity, respect, and love".
