Meghan Markle made a special appearance at the Vax Live television event hosted by Selena Gomez, which aired worldwide on Saturday, May 8.
In a pre-taped video from her home in Montecito, Calif., the Duchess of Sussex discussed how the global coronavirus pandemic has disproportionately affected women around the world.
"As campaign chairs of Vax Live, my husband and I believe it’s critical that our recovery prioritizes the health, safety and success of everyone, but particularly women who have been disproportionately affected by this pandemic," she said.
Showing off her elegant maternity style, the 39-year-old, who is expecting her second child this summer with husband Prince Harry, wore a beautiful Carolina Herrera floral silk midi shirt dress, which hails from the Resort 2021 collection. The poppy print frock retails for $1,685 on mytheresa.com.
She also shared an important message via her selection of jewelry from the brand Awe Inspired. The Suits alum wore the $140 Woman Power Charm necklace, featuring the female Venus symbol with a protesting fist. The amethyst represents protection and is also associated with abundance and enlightenment, which symbolizes women’s empowerment.
Meghan's video marked her first TV appearance since her bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, during which she first revealed she was pregnant with a baby girl.
“My husband and I are thrilled to soon be welcoming a daughter,” Markle said in the video. “It’s a feeling of joy we share with millions of other families around the world.”
