After Miles Teller was reportedly punched in the face while on vacay with Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers, as previously reported by OK!, we now have learned that Teller was reportedly assaulted by more than one man in a Maui restaurant. However, the actor claimed he doesn't know his attackers.
TMZ obtained a video of the aftermath of the assault. The caught on camera moment shows Teller soon after the assault being held back by an unnamed Monkeypod Kitchen staffer while he calls his assailants "losers."
However, where the story gets a bit muddy is Teller's alleged denial that he knows those involved in the attack. According to TMZ, one of the men who allegedly punched Teller is married to a wedding planner, but not just any wedding planner.
It seems this particular wedding planner has a work history with Teller and his wife Keleigh Sperry. In fact, Sperry even mentioned the company in a recent Vogue article.
Sources connected to the couple told TMZ that Teller and his wife allegedly never paid their 2019 wedding bill which is estimated to be about $60,000.
"It is my understanding that the altercation was a dispute over money pertaining to the couple's wedding. We are currently evaluating my clients' legal claim that may exist surrounding the incident, statements made about the incident and the parties previous business dealings," the Hollywood couple's lawyer, Tre Lovell, told TMZ.
Sources told TMZ that the husband of the wedding planner reportedly spoke to cops and a criminal investigation into the incident is underway.
Despite the beat down, Teller does not appear to be seriously injured. After the smoke cleared the couple left the restaurant with Rodgers and Woodley. Teller later tweeted, "I got jumped by two guys in a bathroom. Never met them before in my life."
Sperry also had a few things to say after the attack. "The story reported about Miles being punched in the face by TMZ over 'MONEY' is completely false. Miles was jumped by 2 men we have never met after they trapped him in a bathroom."
She continued, "It seems these same men have done this to many people and we appreciate your support Maui. This is now a criminal investigation." Stay tuned.
