Ex-Inmate Abby Lee Miller Says She Was Targeted & Threatened By Her Prison Guards

Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller says she was targeted and threatened by prison guards during her year-long sentence. The TLC star spoke candidly about her time behind bars at California’s FCI Victorville in a new interview.

“I was threatened by the guards, by the prison system, absolutely,” she said during her May 22 appearance on Good Morning America. “By the staff, by the guards.

She claimed she was specifically targeted because of her fame. “‘Where’s that dance lady?’” she recalled them allegedly saying. “‘Where’s that TV star lady? We’re going to get her.’”

Though the Federal Bureau of Prisons didn’t respond to GMA’s request for a comment, in a statement they said they provide "safe, secure and humane environments.”

While on the morning show, Abby also provided viewers with a health update. She was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in April 2018.

“I was 10 minutes from dying. I was that close to dying,” she said. “I was paralyzed from the neck down. … That cancer, this lymphoma, was choking my spinal cord.”

Abby currently uses a wheelchair but she and her doctors are confident that she will soon regain the ability to walk. “I’ve had to come back tougher,” she said. “I’ve had to come back stronger.”
