PHOTOSWATCH: The First Look At Disney’s 'Aladdin' Trailer Is Here!

The genie is out the bottle — sort of. Disney finally released the teaser for its live-action Aladdin, which hits theaters in May! The footage starts off with a shot of the hills of Agrabah. Don't blink, or you'll miss the shot of Princess Jasmine’s castle in the distance as an instrumental version of “Arabian Nights” plays in the background. The sneak peek also gives the first shot of Mena Massoud as the Arabian prince himself. Watch the clip below!
The clip is the first time we're getting any idea of what Aladdin 2.0 will look like.
This updated version of the Disney classic goes way back in time to tell the story of Aladdin the way it's never been done before. It will reveal the origin story of how the Genie wound up trapped in the lamp.
Earlier this year, Disney announced Will Smith would play the Genie. The star's been in India filming, and his Instagram followers have been loving it. Fans were perturbed there's no shot of him in the new footage, though.

Will's wife Jada Pinkett Smith is one proud woman. When Jimmy Fallon asked her about the film on his show, she confessed that she told Will it was “perfect.” “You’re always creating magic,” she recalled telling him.
The star will have big shoes to fill! The guy who made the blue genie popular in the original version in 1992 was the late Robin Williams.
Mena will be taking audiences on the classic magic carpet ride for the first time in 27 years when the movie comes out in 2019. He's definitely young blood on the big screen, but he's no stranger to Hollywood. He's had roles in Open Heart and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, both television series.
