Ariana Grande and her fiancé Pete Davidson were no-shows at this year's Emmys, following the sudden death of the pop star's ex-boyfriend Mac Miller. They skipped the award show to focus on Ariana's well being, according to People. Read on for more details.
Ariana, 25, and Pete, 24, were expected to be at the star-filled night, but decided not to go after Mac died of an overdose earlier this month. He was just 26 years old.
In the aftermath of Mac's passing, fans unfairly blamed Ariana, given she dated him from 2016 to 2018. She's responded to this type of criticism before, when she was blamed for Mac's DUI. "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be," she tweeted at a follower.
According to her team, the "God Is a Woman" singer is taking some time off to focus on her emotional well being. "Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend," they told People. "She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding."
Following his death, Ariana posted a sweet tribute to Mac on Instagram. “I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will,” she wrote on Instagram, along with a video of the couple laughing together. “I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this, so many times. I’m so mad. I’m so sad I don’t know what to do.”
Meanwhile, Pete's ex Cazzie David, daughter of Larry David, was spotted at HBO's Official 2018 Emmy After Party, looking amazing in a gold dress with bright red lips. After the event, she posted a dressed-down selfie on her Insta Story.
