"I realized I had been pushed pretty hard. As much as I say this was the best thing for me, it was a challenge, too, at times," the 27-year-old told Chris Harrison. "I would say having that alone time and realizing I needed more of it."

"The only way to get alone time was to say goodbye to you,” he said, referring to when he pulled off his mic and ran away from the producers after the fence jump.
