On January 20, 2009 First Lady Michele Obama wowed in a Jason Wu white floral dress at Regional Inaugural Ball in Washington, DC. Obama’s gown was a major fashion statement because she a young Chinese American designer to dress her.

Michele Obama made a safe yet bold statement for her second inauguration gown by choosing the same designer, Jason Wu. Obama opted for a dress that highlighted her toned arms that she became famous for.

Laura Bush chose a red dress for her first inauguration ball; although the color was bold the cut of the dress was classic and appropriate for Bush’s age.

Nancy Regan danced through the ball in a light blue embellished dress that was simple yet sophisticated — the gloves added an elegant touch to the dress.

Hillary Clinton’s went all out for her first Inauguration gown! She chose a long sleeve sequined purple dress with full-length peplum and a train. Hillary’s hairdo was the perfect touch for the opulent dress.

Clinton was a fan of glitter and sequence. Her second inauguration ball gown was very similar to the first, expect for the color. Hillary’s looks were very similar in style, but we think she made a better fashion choice on her first ball.

Leave it to Jackie Kennedy to make a fashion statement. The wife of John F. Kennedy wore a full-length white cape with a simple and demur under. Till this day, First ladies are inspired by her elegant and timeless style.
