Blake Shelton took to social media to pay tribute to his good friend and country music legend, Earl Thomas Conley, who died on Wednesday, April 10 in Nashville, Tennessee. Scroll through for all of the heartbreaking details.
Earl, 77, passed away after months of hospice care and a long struggle with dementia, his brother, Fred Conley told The Tennessean. “He just kept losing ground. I’m brokenhearted," he said.
Another person who was very close with the music artist was Blake, 42. The "God Gave Me You" singer took a moment to say some nice words about his longtime friend, who collaborated to co-write Blake’s track “All Over Me” with Michael Pyle in 2002.
"My heart is absolutely destroyed today," The Voice judge wrote on April 10 via Instagram. "I’m sad to report that Earl Thomas Conley passed away very early this morning."
"Earl was my all-time favorite singer, hero and my friend. Prayers to his family. We will all miss you deeply my brother. Now go rest..." Blake concluded.
The 77-year-old was best known for his 1980’s hits “Holding Her and Loving You,” “What I’d Say” and “Once In a Blue Moon.”
After seeing Blake's social media post, Trisha Yearwood responded via Twitter, “I am so sad to hear this news. ETC you will be greatly missed.”
