Several questions have been raised about the latest additions to the $60 million civil lawsuit filed against Bobbi Kristina Brown’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, in July. There are several shocking descriptions of the troubling incidents that plauged the pair’s relationship in the documents, including claims that Gordon beat and bloodied Brown just days before she was found unresponsive in her home’s bathtub. But legal analyst have revealed that the suit may be being used by the family to assist the criminal investigation into Bobbi Kris' hospitalization and death.
Speaking to USA Today, Atlanta, Georgia, lawyer and legal analyst Phillip Holloway said that the information laid out in the lawsuit has not yet been supported by “actual evidence.” He added that often times lawyers provide alleged “unspecified information” and then are tasked with offering more supporting details and facts as the legal process continues later on.
"Just as in a criminal indictment, no actual evidence has to be revealed in filing a lawsuit," Holloway said.
Estate lawyer Jerry Reisman also told the publication that the suit may likely be an attempt by the family to simply keep Gordon from taking anything else from Brown. "I think right now, this lawsuit is aimed at getting attention," Reisman said."What's driving this complaint is the need to prevent Nick Gordon from getting any of Bobbi Kristina's estate."
Reisman added that the amount of people closely watching the case may also keep authorities from moving too quickly with filing charges against Gordon or completing their investigation. And according to author Ian Halperin, the suit is likely an attempt by Bobbi Kris’ family to push investigators to press criminal charges against Gordon.
"You can put in all kinds of allegations without evidence, but you've got to know what you're doing or you could lose your credibility," Halperin told USA Today. "You have to have a smoking gun...This could actually damage the case against Nick Gordon."
The investigation into Bobbi Kris' hospitalization has been ongoing for months, with her death leaving many curious if Gordon may possibly be charged in the case. Gordon has remained fairly quiet over the past few months, but his legal team did release a statement over the weekend, saying that the suit is a “fictitious assault against the person who loved Krissy most.” What do you think about the lawsuit against Nick Gordon?
