It’s been just over a week since the tragic death of Morgan Beck and Olympian Bode Miller’s 19-month-old daughter Emeline. The couple, who is expecting their fifth child in October, has now come forward to reach out to all their supporters who’ve extended their condolences during this awful time. Read on for more.
It was just 10 days ago when Bode shared the news that Emeline had drowned at a party. He posted a pic of the sweet little girl with this caption: “We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this.”
After receiving an outpouring of love and support from fans, Bode was compelled to reach out and thank them in a separate post the next day. “Thank you for all the love and support and to our midwives @lindseymeehleis and @courtneykellis for helping us find the support our family needs during this impossible time,” he captioned in another pic of him holding Emeline.
Since her passing, their midwives’ GoFundMe account raised more than $26,000 towards setting up a water safety foundation, which inspired Morgan and Bode to post a joint emotional statement acknowledging their supporters on Tuesday. “We want to thank our friends, family and every one of you who sent a message, said a prayer or donated, and for the overwhelming expression of support. We are truly touched and blessed,” they began.
They continued, “Our midwives started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds and we intend to donate these funds to worthwhile causes connected to water safety education.”
“We are inspired to make our baby girl’s memory go forth and help prevent as many drownings as possible. We will post more soon on our plans and efforts,” they concluded.
