Cardi B’s July 30 performance was called off due to a security threat at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The safety concerns were strong enough to postpone the concert, and there is an ongoing investigation behind these threats, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
The “I Like It” singer, 26, apologized to her fans on the evening of July 30. “Dear Indiana people I’m so sorry for today," Cardi tweeted. “I will like to let you know I was at the venue I was even rehearsing a new move I been excited to do on my show."
Adding, "Unfortunately there was a security threat that is currently under investigation right now," she added. "My safety and your safety first.” Attached to the tweet was a video from Cardi’s rehearsal. She explained further in a now-deleted tweet, "I even left the state ASAP cause I ain’t takin no chances!"
Shocked fans commented on her update and expressed concern. “Your safety is always and should always be first boo” one follower sympathized. “Don't you ever apologize for wanting to be safe and make certain your fans and team are safe. We are a fanbase who truly love and support you.”
"Damn I was so excited to see you. But thank you for putting everybody’s safety first. Seriously.” A devoted fan thanked the rapper. Another chimed in, “We love you Cardi. Safety always first and I hope the people who were going tonight understand.”
Other fans noticed that the cancellation came a day after the rapper spoke with Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
“Wow, you started talking politics and now they after u...That’s f**king crazy” one speculated. “After speaking with Bernie this not a coincidence...leave Cardi aloneeeeee,” another wrote.
The postponed concert will now take place in September.
