Charli XCX has been touring Australia as the support act on Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour, and she recently got candid about just how wild and crazy things get behind the scene. Read on for all the details on her backstage antics.
During an interview on The Project talk show, the 26-year-old admitted that she had to battle some serious nerves before she was able to get on stage with her headliner. At the end of each show, Taylor brings her opening acts on stage to perform her hit song “Shake It Off.”
Charli confessed that the thought of having to do the song’s dance routine terrified her. “It was very scary. Because I don’t really dance. I dance in my way, but I don’t dance choreographed pop star routines," she said.
She revealed that she was only able to go through with it after a bit of liquid courage in the form of nearly an entire bottle of champagne. She quipped, “On film it’s okay. I pull it off!”

The “Boom Clap” singer also admitted that luckily, Taylor’s fans have showed her nothing but love and support. “The Tay Tay fans are cray cray! They know how to party!” she shared.
Last week, the UK native spilled another huge performance-related secret. She admitted that autotune is the reason she's able to sound flawless during her grueling and energetic live performances. She told the Daily Telegraph, “Auto-tune is the savior of my life; I don't see it as a bad thing.”
