Christian Comedian John Crist Reveals 'Addiction Struggles' & 'Sexual Sin' Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

John Crist is apologizing. The Christian comedian and Youtube star has cancelled his upcoming tour dates and released a statement in which he owned up to "sexual sin" and "addiction struggles” amid accusations of sexual misconduct from multiple women.

According to an article from Charisma News, John, 35, used and “exploited his Christian reputation and platform to harass, manipulate and exploit young women." He was accused of sexting, sleeping with married women, calling women in the middle of the night while drunk. During the late night phone calls, he allegedly offering concert tickets in exchange for sex.

Shortly after the article was published, John issued a statement to the outlet. “Over the past number of years, various women have accused me of behavior that has been hurtful to them. While I am not guilty of everything I've been accused of, I confess to being guilty of this — I have treated relationships with women far too casually, in some cases even recklessly,” he wrote.

“My behavior has been destructive and sinful,” he continued. “I've sinned against God, against women and the people who I love the most. I have violated my own Christian beliefs, convictions and values, and have hurt many people in the process. I am sorry for the hurt and pain I have caused these women and will continue to seek their forgiveness.”

The comedian then revealed that he’s been getting treatment and professional help for his “sexual sin” and "addiction struggles.” John wrote, “I'm committed to getting healing and freedom from my sin and have decided to cancel my remaining tour dates this year and to postpone all future commitments in order to devote all my time and energy on getting healthy spiritually, mentally and physically.”

“I'm ashamed of my behavior and I'm so sorry for hurting so many people,” he added. “I don't blame anyone but myself. I'm responsible for my actions and I've repented and am taking full ownership.”

“I now humbly seek forgiveness and mercy and love—not just for me, but for those I've hurt along my path,” John concluded. “I'm so sorry."

John previously dated Dancing With the Stars contestant Lauren Alaina. In September 2019, she announced that they broke up after four months of dating.

In addition to his tour, John was also set to release a Netflix comedy special called I Ain't Prayin' For That and a book called Untag Me. It is unclear whether or not these projects will move forward as planned.
