As Derek Jeter moves on from his role as New York Yankees shortstop, he is looking forward to taking on another: dad!
At an event for his Turn 2 Foundation, Derek shared that his 3-year-old nephew, Jalen, was the inspiration for the great cause. “Kids nowadays are going to be the leaders of the future, and the leaders for not only Jalen, but my kids one day when I have them,” he told People.
“I look forward to being a dad," he continued. And that moment may come soon! The former Yankee has been dating model Hannah Davis since 2012.
But until then, Derek is enjoying playing the role of uncle to his nephew. He joked with the magazine, “When you’re an uncle, you can get rid of them when you want to get rid of them!”
