Lauren Alaina is single and in no rush to mingle. The American Idol alum, 25, opened up about her love life and breakup with comedian and Youtuber John Crist. Her update comes just days after he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women.
Nine months after the country star announced that she and her now ex-fiancé Alex Hopkin ended their six-year relationship, Lauren said she's in no rush to find love.
“I am single for the first time as an adult, so I am not trying to hurry love. I will say that I am enjoying it,” the singer said on the Monday, November 11 episode of Dancing with the Stars.
Lauren also addressed her split from her ex-boyfriend, John, 35. During an interview on The Bobby Bones Show in May 2019, the country star revealed that they had been secretly dating for a few months. However, after four months together, Lauren pulled the plug on their relationship. The actress announced their breakup just hours before the DWTS premiere in September 2019.
“I went through a breakup two weeks before I came on this show. Kind of a crazy time but being on Dancing with the Stars has been the perfect recipe for healing my broken heart,” Lauren told hosts. “This show has been like my new boyfriend. I’m dating Dancing with the Stars and it’s going great,” the singer concluded.
Following her first dance on DWTS—a quickstep to The Supremes’ “Can’t Hurry Love”—co host Tom Bergeron jokingly asked the singer, “So you’re dating the whole show?” “I am,” Lauren replied, who playfully added, “it’s going great!”
Before receiving her scores, the actress revealed to Tom, 64, that she “had a little bit of a bad day last week,” which was seemingly in reference to the allegations being levied against John.
On Wednesday, November 6, Charisma News published a report in which five women, whose names were intentionally replaced with pseudonyms by the outlet, claimed that the comedian “exploited his Christian reputation and platform to harass, manipulate and exploit young women over the last seven years,” multiple sources alleged.
John issued a lengthy statement to Charisma News. The comedian apologized “for the hurt and pain” that he has caused various women and he admitted that he has “treated relationships with women far too casually, in some cases even recklessly.”
