Lucy Boynton is definitely having a moment. In fact, you can say that she is the newest “It” girl, as she has both the acting chops and style that are turning heads in Hollywood. Lucy was born in New York and raised in London with her parents, who are travel editors, before a talent scout spotted her in a drama class. She found success on the big screen when she was just 12-years-old, appearing in Miss Potter as a young Beatrix Potter.
1. Stars In Her Eyes.
Lucy Boynton was born in New York City and raised in London. She broke into Hollywood at just 12-years-old, playing the role of Beatrix Potter in the 2007 movie Miss Potter.
She gushed that the first day of filming was “the best day of her life.” She was even nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film.
2. Stylish.
Lucy proved that she is not afraid to take fashion risks as she pulled off this chic look in 2015 at the British Film Awards in London.
"As long as you feel good in something, it doesn’t matter what other people think," Lucy told InStyle magazine. "You just have to own it. You’ll never regret wearing something you really love.”
3. Sing Street.
Lucy had a huge year in 2016 as she appeared in several movies including Don't Knock Twice, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House and the comedy Sing Street.
She looked gorgeous as she walked the red carpet at the New York premiere of Sing Street with costars Jack Reynor, Mark McKenna, Ferdia Walsh-Peelo and John Carney.
"I'll get experimental and explore different styles and versions of myself, but I always come back to those Peter Pan collars and little vintage babydoll dresses,” she said in an interview.
4. Hell Or High Water.
Lucy looked gorgeous in a cream gown with pearl embellishments and braided hair as she attended the 2016 premiere of her movie Hell Or High Water.
She signed autographs and posed for selfies with fans at the premiere, which took place at the 42nd Deauville American Film Festival in Deauville France. Also at the film festival were Daniel Radcliffe and Chloë Grace Moretz, who were there collecting their Hollywood Rising Star awards.
5. Vive Le France.
Lucy was making quite a name for herself in the fashion world as Chanel invited her as their guest to Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture in 2017. She was spotted rubbing elbows with
Tilda Swinton, Kristen Stewart and Marion Cotillard.
“I’m getting more adventurous with my style, but you probably won’t see me in a completely form-fitting dress anytime soon,” she told InStyle. “I much prefer the silhouettes of the ’40s and ’50s — although the ’80s became a big influence for me after Sing Street. I got far too comfortable wearing bright blue eye shadow.”
6. BAFTAs.
The actress was spotted the next month at the 18th annual private pre-BAFTAs dinner at Annabel’s in London, which was cohosted by Charles Finch and Chanel
The event was a who’s who of Hollywood with stars like Margot Robbie, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams and Timothee Chalamet at the ultra-exclusive bash. Lucy joked at the event that even though she had been in several movies, she can still enjoy a little bit of anonymity.
“I can still get on the Tube and not be recognized,” she said.
7. ‘Murder On The Orient Express.’
Lucy attended the premiere for her film Murder on the Orient Express where she was interviewed by British TV personality Lorraine Kelly.
In an interview with InStyle, she gushed over the clothes that she was able to wear during the movie.
“In Murder on the Orient Express I wore the most exquisite looks, including one outfit with a hand-stitched sequined veil. If I could get away with wearing it every day, I would!” she said. “My other favorite was a beautiful brown suede jacket that was custom-made for me. On the last day of filming, the costume designer slipped it into my bag and I snuck off with it.”
8. Miu Miu.
Lucy took a break from promoting movies to attend the 2018 Miu Miu fashion show as part of Paris Fashion Week. They debuted their much-anticipated Fall/Winter 2018 look.
The actress looked gorgeous in a black lace dress. Makeup artist Alexis Day featured her eyes with light pink eyeshadow, while Halley Brisker styled her hair in soft waves.
9. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’
Lucy looked gorgeous at the London premiere for her biggest film to date, Bohemian Rhapsody. She was spotted at the premiere with her boyfriend, costar Rami Malik, who starred in the movie.
She looked gorgeous in a ruffled pink gown. “I’m drawn to romantic and ethereal looks. I feel most like myself in lighter pieces and pastels,” she said.
10. Governor’s Awards.
Lucy walked the red carpet with boyfriend Rami at the 2018 Governor’s Awards in Los Angeles. Bohemian Rhapsody was nominated for several awards, and the new couple had fun making the award show circuit together.
“Everyone got so close so quickly on that film, which meant we could be much more instinctive as actors,” she said of the chemistry while filming.
11. Palm Springs
The star made an impression with to-die-for lashes at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
“My beauty essential is anything that helps me get big doe eyes — that’s the look I love,” she said. “I always use MAC Haute and Naughty mascara because it comes with two brush options, one’s thin and the other is thicker. I've been searching for the perfect mascara for years and I finally found it in that. “
12. Golden Globes.
Lucy was gorgeous in a golden gown at the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles with her Bohemian Rhapsody team in tow.
Joining her on the red carpet was her boyfriend and costar, Rami Malek, along with Jim Beach, Queen guitarist Brian May, Queen drummer Roger Taylor and Sarina Potgiete.
Lucy confessed in an interview that she got the role in Bohemian Rhapsody without needing to audition. "There is something daunting about getting a role you didn't formally audition for, another weight of needing to prove yourself.”
13. Critics’ Choice Awards.
The actress looked gorgeous in a Gucci dress and Niwaka jewelry at the 24th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards at the Barker Hanger in Los Angeles.
Bohemian Rhapsody was up for many awards that night, including Rami for Best Actor for his role as Freddie Mercury.
14. Movies For Grownups Awards.
Pretty in polka dots! Lucy and her castmates Ben Hardy, Rami Malek and Joseph Mazzello accepted the award for Best Ensemble at the 18th Annual Movies for Grownups Awards.
The event was held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.
15. British Film Academy.
Lucy went high fashion in a Christian Dior couture dress at the 72nd British Academy Film Awards in London in 2019.
The actress told InStyle that she loves to gets dressed up but also has her favorite street style looks.
“For the red carpet I like a platform heel, but for everyday it’s mostly Converse high-tops or booties with black tights. Right now my favorite thing I own is a raspberry cross-body bag from Prada's fall collection. I work all my outfits around it.”
16. Academy Awards.
It was little surprise to anyone when Rami won the Best Actor Oscar for Bohemian Rhapsody at the 91st Annual Academy Awards.
He gushed over Lucy during his acceptance speech, proclaiming “You're the heart of this film, you are beyond immensely talented, you have captured my heart.'
17. Clash de Cartier.
Lucy and Rami looked picture perfect at the Clash de Cartier launch in Paris, where the actress looked gorgeous in a lavender Marc Jacobs gown.
“I’ve always liked higher necklines, and Mia Farrow is my ultimate inspiration,” she told InStyle. “The baby-doll dresses with big Peter Pan collars that she wore in Rosemary’s Baby were iconic. I’ve been drawn to similar looks ever since.”
18. Prada Resort.
Lucy was spotted sitting front row at the Prada Resort Show at the Piano Factory in Manhattan in May of 2019. She looked gorgeous as she chatted with Elle Fanning, Natalia Dyer, Diane Kruger and Max Minghella.
She recently gushed over some of her favorite style muses, and Elle made the list!.
“Elle Fanning is constantly willing to take risks, and I really admire that. And Kiernan Shipka has never made a wrong step. Her fashion history is gold.”
19. Costume Institute Benefit.
Looking fierce! Lucy made quite the entrance at the Costume Institute Benefit to celebrate the opening of Camp: Notes on Fashion, a show held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The star wore a pink and gray Prada dress that had a sequined body, which was adorned with feathers and ruffles. She wore a floral headband and embellished her eyes with diamonds.
20. ‘The Politician.’
Lucy wore a pastel-colored gown and black scarf for the New York premiere of her new Netflix show, The Politician. She posed alongside her costars Julia Schlaepfer, January Jones and Zoey Deutch.
"I can tell you the scripts are bloody brilliant and this character could not be more different to anyone I've played before, which has been so much fun," she said of her role.
21. ‘Mr. Robot.’
Lucy and Rami are showing no sign of slowing down, as they walked the red carpet for the Manhattan premiere of season four of Mr. Robot.
What is next for Lucy?
"I would also love to direct one day," she said. "But I'd first like, and need, to build up my knowledge and understanding of both the process and film history to draw on."
