PHOTOSGabrielle Union Throws Shade At NBC After They Claim They’re ‘Working With’ Her Following ‘America’s Got Talent’ Firing

Gabrielle Union isn’t happy after NBC claimed they’re “working with her” after she was fired from America’s Got Talent! Shortly after the network released a statement, the Bring It On actress threw shade on Twitter at the network on December 1 for not giving a sincere apology. Gabrielle reportedly spoke out against toxic work culture and racism during her time on the show.
Gabrielle, 47, retweeted a post from Joelle Monique that described a combination of three things that make up a “solid apology.” The post said, “1. Sincerely admit wrongdoing directly to the offended party. 2. Be twice as loud correcting your mistake as you were making the mistake. 3. Lay out steps to correct your behavior in the future. Anything less is covering your own a**.”
“This! This! AND THIIISSSSSSS!!!!!!” Gabrielle commented.
On December 1, Simon Cowell’s company, Syco Entertainment, NBC and Fremantle released a joint statement after the unexpected firing of the L.A.’s Finest star. “We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture. We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate,” they said.
Gabrielle and Julianne Hough both joined season 14 of AGT, but are not returning for the 15th season. Variety first reported on November 26 that both of the stars were fired because of toxic culture and sexism. Gabrielle, in particular, was repeatedly told her hair was “too black” for the audience and spoke out against racism on the set, according to the report.
“So many tears, so much gratitude,” Gabrielle tweeted on November 27. “THANK YOU! Just when you feel lost, adrift, alone… you got me up off the ground. Humbled and thankful, forever.”
“America’s Got Talent has a long history of inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show. The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one of the reasons for AGT’s enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously,” NBC said in a statement on November 26.
“'Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.' Over this past year I’ve been approached by many people saying that my wife @itsgabrielleu is the main reason they’ve started watching #AGT or that they love her insight and sincerity on the show. So when I got the news that my wife was being fired —my first question was obviously why!?” Gabrielle’s husband Dwyane Wade wrote on Twitter. “I am still waiting on a good answer to that question. But if anyone knows @itsgabrielleu or have heard of her you know she’s an advocate for our community and culture.”
