Amal, 37, who is a human rights lawyer, has been trying to distance herself from her 54-year-old Hollywood hunk husband so that she’s taken more seriously in her professional career, a source told OK! Magazine.

“Deep down, she’s begun to wonder if being a celebrity is affecting her career,” the insider explained. “She’s worked her butt off, and she can’t stand people thinking of her as just ‘George Clooney’s wife.’ So she’s started to distance herself from him, and it’s causing tension.”

Not to mention, Amal has stopped wearing her diamond engagement ring to court, and George is “furious!”

Mrs. Clooney’s distance from her career isn’t the only thing weighing on their marriage either! The insider said George is not happy Amal is based in London while he stays in the United States.

“They thought they could live together in London and Los Angeles, but now she’s hell-bent on living in England, and he doesn’t want to leave the States,” the source said. “They’ve been drifting further and further apart, and they’re finding it impossible to keep up what’s become essentially a long-distance relationship.”
