Legendary pop singer George Michael passed away on Christmas Day, and the reason why has been confirmed.
The star passed from a “dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver,” according to a newly released autopsy report. Despite working on a new album for 2017, a source told RadarOnline.com exclusively that Michael had become increasingly isolated in months leading to his death.
“In the last few months, George shut a lot of people out. Some of his management and his personal team of stylists and such,” the source said. “He became very irritable because of health issues and a lot of his old friends didn’t even want to be around him anymore.”
The singer had barely been seen in the months before he passed. His last public outing was in September, where it appeared Michael had gained a troubling amount of weight.
Michael seemed to struggle to get back on his feet ever since 1998, when he was arrested for a “lewd act” in a public bathroom. Over the years, he was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and marijuana, and was even banished from the road in 2010 after pleading guilty to driving under the influence. He also lived in Switzerland for a brief time while finishing rehab for substance abuse.
Of Michael’s drug abuse, his cousin Jackie Georgiou told The Sun just last year, “There were parties where he was taking drugs and collapsing and being picked up off the floor. Waking up in vomit, horrible things…I’m petrified he will die.”
His cousin’s words may have been prophetic. “He died miserable and nearly alone because he pushed everyone away,” the source said.
