Gloria Estefan and, husband, Emilio are currently promoting the nationwide tour of their musical On Your Feet! The pair, who have been married for 40 years, recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the secrets to their successful relationship. Read on to see what they’ve had to say!
Gloria started by explaining the long history she and her husband have. She said, “We’ve been together for 43 years.” And then she jokingly added, “So…I met him when I was one.”
Laughter seems to be a key part of their relationship. When asked what the secret to their love story was, Emilio answered with a smirk, “Respect and love and, more than anything else, being Latino, you say, 'Yes, Baby, whatever you want.”
His wife was having none of that though! "That is such a crock, you know what? He makes me laugh every single day of my life,” she responded.
The couple first met while working together with Emilio’s band, Miami Latin Boys. They officially began dating in 1976 and Gloria admits that he was her “first and only boyfriend.”
After two years of dating, they tied the knot back in September 1978. They have one son, Nayib, and one daughter, Emily.
