'Gossip Girl' Revival Is Coming To HBO Max ⁠— But Will Blake Lively Be Back?

Welcome back to the Upper East Side! Gossip Girl is officially coming back to television on WarnerMedia’s streaming service, HBO Max. The news was announced on Wednesday, July 17.

The reboot will consist of 10 episodes and many of the original showrunners are returning.

Original producers Joshua Safran, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Leslie Morgenstein are at the helm of the revival.

Gossip Girl aired on the CW from 2007 until 2012 and told the story of a group of rich friends living in Manhattan over the course of six seasons.

The show is set to take place eight years later and will follow a new generation of private school teenagers living in NYC. Social media will play a big part in the new series and will show how it impacts the lives of these teens.

Rumors began swirl that the CW teen drama was returning to the network back in February 2019.

“There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet,” president of the CW Mark Pedowitz told reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour at the time. “I don’t know what it would be. A lot is up to Warner Brothers and Josh and Steph because we don’t want to do anything without them."
