It all began when news broke that Mama June, mother of 9-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, was possibly dating a convicted child molester, Mark McDaniel.

McDaniel is Shannon’s ex-boyfriend who served ten years in prison for molesting one of her relatives, identified as an 8-year-old child.

Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, Mama June’s 14-year-old daughter, told RadarOnline that none of it was true. “They story is not true. My mom left Mark 10 years ago,” she said. “She is all about the kids. She only needs us girls, no one else.”

Mama June also addressed rumors on Facebook: “I want to make a post trying to clear up the rumors remember you can’t believe everything you read!” she wrote. “I promise my kids are #1 priority over anything else and I would never put them in danger period over this or anything else.”

TLC said it was investigating the claims in a statement on Thursday: “We are very concerned about this new information and are reassessing the future of the series.”

Later though, Mama June told fans in a Facebook video that the show was axed. “Just got a phone call this morning from TLC and as of right now there will be no more production of the show — the statement of me dating a sex offender is totally untrue,” Shannon said. “I would not ever, ever, ever, ever put my kids in danger, I love them too much.”

TLC then made the news public that it stopped production on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in a statement reading: “TLC has canceled the series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and ended all activities around the series, effective immediately. Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the children’s ongoing comfort and well-being.”
