NeNe Leakes is fueling rumors that The Real Housewives of Atlanta may be seeing the return of a familiar face when the show’s Season 8 cast is finally announced -- RHOA alum Shereè Whitfield!
By the time RHOA's seventh season came to an end in April, fans were already speculating about who would be cast for the show’s eighth season. And just a little over one month after the show’s latest season ended, Whitfield remains a resounding favorite among RHOA watchers to return to the reality TV hit.
There have been rumors of Whitfield, who left RHOA after its fourth season, coming back to the show that made her a household name. But when she posted an Instagram post that seemed to hint she may be making a comeback on RHOA, Whitfield renewed interest in the chatter that Season 8 might mark her moment to reclaim her peach.
And Leakes only fanned the casting rumors even more when she posted a throwback photo of herself and the original ladies of RHOA on her Instagram on Thursday. Are you trying to tell us something, Linnethia!?
A major shakeup is expected when Bravo officially announces the show’s new Season 8 cast, though sources told RadarOnline.com that Leakes has already been locked in for the season and received a nice salary bump to keep her on the show. “NeNe absolutely hated Housewives this season. She hated almost all of the other women and wanted off the show entirely,” the source said. “But she is the most valuable person in the entire franchise and Bravo was going to do whatever she wanted to keep her. So they offered her the spin-off, which she gladly took.”
The insider added, “They want NeNe and so they offered her a HUGE raise. She already makes the most and now they’re giving her even more money per episode and her bonuses will be bigger too.”
And seeing that Whitfield was one of the few original ladies to step up to Leakes during her time on the show, Whitfield’s return to RHOA would likely make for an interesting addition to the cast. However, until Bravo finally announces the Season 8 cast, we’ll have to just keep counting down for the highly anticipated reveal!
