August Alsina’s new song has fans raising eyebrows and demanding answers about his love life. The track, which is a remixed version of Kehlani’s “Nunya” is about one of August’s past relationships and some listeners are convinced the woman in question is married Jada Pinkett Smith.
In a promotional Instagram video for the song, August, 26, is texting a woman named “Koren.” Koren also happens to be Jada’s middle name.
If the name of his mystery woman wasn’t enough of a coincidence to stoke relationship rumors, during the on-screen texting conversation, August sends “Koren” a Jada .gif.
This wasn’t the first time the “I Luv This” singer raised questions about the nature of his relationship with the 47-year-old Red Table Talk host. On Jada’s birthday at the end of last year, August posted a lengthy sentimental tribute to her on his Instagram.
“You are LOVE personified,” he wrote in part. “There hasn’t been enough diction created to articulate or express the capacity of my love for you. I️t is simply beyond measure and human comprehension.”
Fans flocked social media to share their theories. “Wait,” one person tweeted. “So we’re not gonna discuss how August Alsina did a remix to Nunya talkin about his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith?”
“Jada has a whole WILL SMITH and decides to play with August Alsina?” someone questioned. “I don’t understand women sometimes!”
“If anyone has noticed how close they have been lately...I wouldn’t be surprised at allll,” another user typed.
However, others weren’t fully convinced. “So because August used a Jada gif he was talking about her....okay.”
