While some people may think to bring their significant others to a major red carpet affair, Jaden Smith opted to bring an iguana to the New York premiere of his new film Skate Kitchen, which follows an outcast teenager who befriends a group of skateboarding girls.

Jaden has been known to never really follow the norm when it comes to, well, anything. As his mom Jada noted on an episode of Red Table Talk, he stunned the family when he asked to be emancipated at age 15.

He also had his dad Will all kinds of flustered at the sight of his son wearing a skirt for the first time.

But at the Skate Kitchen premiere, NO ONE could have predicted that the 20-year-old would have showed up on the red carpet with an iguana. He even had it crawling up his shoulder in front of the cameras.

Clearly the actor had managed to transfix everyone there because they couldn’t take their eyes off of him.

Jaden also decided to go against type with the attire he wore, donning a pink graphic hoodie, a black and white checkered fanny pack, black jeans, and sneakers.
