Jamie Lynn Spears Lands First Acting Role Since 'Zoey 101' Ended Over A Decade Ago

Jamie Lynn Spears is returning to acting! She landed her first big television role in over a decade and will be starring in the new Netflix series, Sweet Magnolias. The news was announced on Twitter on Monday, July 1.

Sweet Magnolias is based on the book series by Sherryl Woods. Jamie, 28, will play Noreen Fitzgibbons, "a young woman who is determined to build a new life for herself after a series of bad choices."

Chris KleinJustin Bruening, and Monica Potter, are also set to star in the series.

The role is Jamie's first after than 10 years away from the small screen. She was last seen at the helm of Nickelodeon's hit series, Zoey 101. The Nick tween dramedy aired on the network from 2005 until 2008.

In January 2019, the All That star expelled rumors that the show ended when she got pregnant at the age of 16. She shared a clip of the show's theme song and wrote, "Are you ready? 14 years later…still a jam."

She then added the hashtags, “#itdidNOTendbecauseofpregnancy” and “#contractwasfinished.” Fans then took to the comments and questioned the reveal. One asked, “Oh wow you didn’t quit because you were pregnant, you waited this long to tell us.” Jamie replied, “Nope … I went home to finish high school and was going to pursue movies.”

The mother of two has also ventured into singing in the past few years. She released her first single, "How Could I Want More" in 2013.
