Jennifer Aniston Admits She Turned Down Chance To Audition For 'SNL' — 'It Was Such A Boys Club'

Jennifer Aniston revealed she could have been been a cast member on Saturday Night Live over two decades ago. During an appearance on  Howard Stern‘s SiriusXM show, the actress admitted she was once offered the opportunity to audition for the NBC sketch show

The 50-year-old recalled the time she was asked to audition and explained what went down soon after. “I didn’t think I would like that environment,” she said began. “I remember turning up and Adam Sandler was there and David Spade was there, and I’d known them already and they were like, ‘Look, Aniston’s here!’ I met them when I was 20, 21, after I’d done a television show with a guy who knew them.”

Jennifer added that she took a meeting with SNL producer and creator Lorne Michaels. The two spoke candidly about the lack of female representation on the comedy series.

“I was like, ‘I think that women need to be treated better here.’ Because it was such a boys club,” the Just Go With It actress continued. “You’re just, not the brightest when you’re in your early 20s. I didn’t lecture him, I was just saying what I would hope if I was to do this, what I would hope it to be.”

In the end, Jennifer passed on the chance but it ultimately let to a bunch of  SNL cameos and guest hosting gigs.

After ditching the NBC parody series, she went on to score another one of the network's primetime shows. Shortly after her non-audition, she landed the role of Rachel Green on the show Friends and it catapulted her into instant fame. Despite skipping out on the opportunity to be "Live from New York," she was still able to live in the Big Apple via a Hollywood set on Friends.

“We all miss it every day,” Jennifer told Howard of shooting the sitcom. “I would be nothing without it.” Last month, author Saul Austerlitz wrote in his book, Generation Friends: An Inside Look at the Show That Defined a Television Era, that the Murder Mystery star was told to lose 30 pounds if she ever wanted to make it in Hollywood.
