Jennifer Garner's boyfriend John Miller isn't OK with her ex Ben Affleck's remarks about their marriage. While Ben and Jen, both 47, have been successful coparents to their three children, John, 41, isn't 100% down with the Oscar winner's recent comments.
A source told Us Weekly that John is becoming “uncomfortable with Ben’s interviews.” The insider added, “John is empathetic to Ben’s struggles with sobriety, but he worries about how Jennifer has once again become the focus. … The spotlight on Jennifer is intense and Ben needs to consider her feelings before speaking so publicly.”
The Alias star and The Way Back actor share daughters Violet, 14, Seraphina, 11, and Samuel, 7. The pair tied the knot in 2015 and parted ways in 2015. However, their divorce was not finalized until 2018.
In a New York Times interview published earlier this month, Ben admitted that the divorce was one of his biggest regrets. He also spoke candidly about how the split affected his sobriety. "I drank relatively normally for a long time. What happened was that I started drinking more and more when my marriage was falling apart. This was 2015, 2016. My drinking, of course, created more marital problems," Ben told the publication. "The biggest regret of my life is this divorce."

He continued, "Shame is really toxic. There is no positive byproduct of shame. It’s just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing." Ben added, "It’s not particularly healthy for me to obsess over the failures — the relapses — and beat myself up. I have certainly made mistakes. I have certainly done things that I regret. But you’ve got to pick yourself up and learn from it."
Jennifer and John have been dating since mid-2018 and went public with their romance in October of that year. Ben previously gushed over his ex-wife and her role as a mother to their three kids.
The Triple Frontier star appeared on the Today show in March 2019 and opened up about how Jen plays a key role in his life. "She's wonderful. Somebody's the mother of your kids, they're going to be the most important, central part in your life, and that's good," he said.
"I hope I'm a pretty good dad. I certainly try very hard. I'm lucky they've got a great mom, and she helps out a great deal with making sure we coparent in as good a way as possible," he explained. "Dads are so important to kids, and it's our responsibility to be there for them, and to be present, to be mindful, to be attentive, to be part of their lives."
