Jill Duggar took to Instagram today to celebrate a choice she made exactly five years ago that changed her life forever!

In a gushing post, Jill shared a photo of her and her husband Derick Dillard. Over it, she wrote, “5 years ago today I left for Nepal to meet the man of my dreams @derickdillard.”
She then included a calendar illustration that showed off the pivotal dates that set her and Derick’s relationship in motion.
On Nov. 14, 2013, Jill left Arkansas with her dad Jim Bob and flew to Nepal to meet Derick for the first time. It took them two days to arrive, meaning she and Derick didn’t meet face to face until the 16th. Within one week, Derick asked to court Jill on Nov. 22!
Jill captioned the post, “@derickdillard love you more every day!”
In a post on their blog, DillardFamily.com, Jill recalled how her father was a “prayer partner” for Derick when he was working as a missionary in Nepal. It was Jim Bob who thought Derick and Jill might be a good match and introduced them via the phone in March 2013.
By March 29th of the following year, Derick and Jill were engaged, and the two wed on June 21st, 2014. They had their son Israel less than ten months later and welcomed a second son, Samuel, in 2017.
