Joy-Anna Duggar turned 21 on Sunday, Oct. 28, and she celebrated with her sister Jill Duggar by her side! Joy is especially close with her older sister, because she practically raised her thanks to their mother Michelle’s infamous “buddy” system.
Jill posted this pic of her and Joy at the latter’s 21st birthday party. “Happy birthday to my Joy Joy buddy! LOVE you and so happy we got to celebrate together the other day! Hope your day is splendid!” Jill captioned the pic.
As 19 Kids and Counting fans know, Michelle managed to raise 19 kids thanks to a “buddy” system. Each older child was assigned a younger sibling to take care of, and Jill was assigned to Joy.
The two have had a close bond ever since! Joy once told InTouch Jill had “always taken care of me.” She even changed her diapers!
While the buddy system seems to have worked for Michelle, several fans have slammed it as being unfair to children. When Anna Duggar appeared to have begun using it to raise her five kids with husband Josh, fans blasted her decision.
In addition to celebrating her birthday with her buddy Jill, Joy-Anna also enjoyed a visit from her brothers Jeremiah and Jedidiah! The twins took their big sis out for an early birthday lunch on Friday to celebrate.
