The Duggars threw an Asian-themed dinner party on Monday, February 18, and nearly the whole family attended — including the often-missing Jill Duggar! However, the former Counting On star’s husband Derick Dillard was nowhere to be seen.
Jill’s sister-in-law Anna Duggar shared photos from the family’s evening together. “We had a fun-filled family night again! We had an Asian-themed dinner ? — Jana and I made fresh spring rolls, Jessa made Indonesian fried rice ? ? (thanks @jennishartonofor teaching us!) and Jill gave us all some sushi lessons! ? ?,” she captioned them.
Jill, 27, and her husband Derick, 29, love sushi and often get it on date night, but it wasn’t a strong enough temptation to get him to come to the family event.
Last Monday, February 11, the Duggars threw an early Valentine’s Day party, which Jill and Derick did not attend. Jana told fans the couple had “prior commitments.”
While Jill made sure she made it to this week’s party, her husband sat it out. Derick is in law school, but he still usually makes time for date night with his wife.
As Duggar fans know, Jill and Derick have missed several family events since Derick’s transphobic tweets got them kicked off the family’s show Counting On. He did not attend Jill’s brother John-David’s wedding in November.
Even though her husband didn’t attend, Jill did bring along the couple’s son Israel, who smiled with his cousin Spurgeon.
Spurgeon’s mom Jessa, who is pregnant with her third child, smiled alongside her sisters Jill and Josie.
