Joe Giudice is gearing up for a major life change. On Wednesday, Oct. 10, a judge ruled that the former Real Housewives of New Jersey star be deported back to Italy when he is released from prison next year. Although he’s lived in New Jersey his whole life, Teresa Giudice’s husband was born in the town of Sala Consilina, Italy, and it’s where he’ll most likely be living again once his prison sentence ends in 2019.
Sala Consilina is located in the province of Salerno in Southwest Italy. According to People magazine, the town is home to 12,000 people — half the population of Joe’s current town of Montville Township, NJ.
Even though Joe’s wife Teresa was born in the U.S., her family is also from Sala Consilina. The Bravo star’s mother was pregnant with her when she and Teresa’s father moved to the States in the 1970s.
In 2010, Teresa and Joe visited the town with two of their four children, Milania and Audriana. While there, they met Joe’s grandmother and cousins. It was even filmed for RHONJ.
At the time, Teresa’s father still owned a home in the village. She admitted she hoped she could “fix it up for him one day.” Perhaps Joe can live there?
Although Joe moved to the U.S. as a child, he never obtained citizenship. Due to the extent of his crime — which was considered an “aggravated felony” — the judge ruled Joe be deported upon finishing his 41-month prison sentence for conspiracy and bankruptcy fraud, RadarOnline.com exclusively reported.
