With his marriage to Nicole Richie reportedly on the rocks, a source told OK! that Joel Madden is now reaching out to a famous friend for comfort -- Hilary Duff!
Madden and Richie have been dodging growing divorce speculation for the past few months now, with Richie even fueling the rumors when she was recently spotted not wearing her wedding ring.
Sources say the couple is dealing with several issues, including their busy schedules and different parenting styles. And the stress is taking a serious toll on their four-year marriage. But a source revealed to OK! that Madden’s reported contact with his ex Duff isn’t helping matters either!
The source said Duff, who is currently going through a divorce with her husband, Mike Comrie, has been supporting Madden as he tries to work through his own marriage issues.
“They talk and text all the time,” the insider said. “Until recently, they kept their distance out of respect for their partners. But that’s changed since Hilary filed for divorce from Mike Comrie and Joel is struggling with Nicole.” However, seeing that Richie likely doesn’t approve of the two communicating, the source added that “there’s much more serious trouble ahead” if they continue their conversations.
