John-David Duggar and his fiancée Abbie Burnett may have broken a major Duggar rule of courting! An eyewitness claims to have seen John-David and Abbie on an unchaperoned date — where Abbie was wearing shorts!

The Duggar fan blog, Duggar Family News: Life Is Not All Pickles and Hairspray, reported getting an eyewitness account of the couple breaking basic Duggar courtship rules.

"I just heard that John and Abbie were spotted today unchaperoned at the Tontitown Grape Festival... and Abbie was wearing shorts!" the site’s admin wrote. InTouch was first to relay the news.

John-David and Abbie first announced their courtship on June 26. “Abbie and I are just so excited, we’ve known of each other for several years,” John told Us Weekly at the time. “We fell in love very quickly and it’s been a wonderful journey thus far.”

A month later, the two announced they were engaged via a TLC video. “Yep, it’s official we are engaged,” John-David gushed as he showed off Abbie’s engagement ring. “We’ve been ready for this step for a little while, but it was really just that I had a lot of things I wanted to get done to make it really special.”
