Josh Duggar failed to comply with the law! When Jim Bob and Michelle’s disgraced eldest son opened up a used car lot in Washington County, Arkansas, the former 19 Kids and Counting star ignored local authorities’ warnings to obtain a permit and instead played by his own rules.

When Josh opened his Wholesale Motorcars lot after leaving his lobbying job in 2015, he was allegedly found in violation of an ordinance requiring his business to have a permit, RadarOnline.com reported.

“We have one zoning designation in the county to allow single-family residential or agricultural uses. Anything else requires a conditional use permit to request a zoning change,” a planning official in Washington County told the site.

According to the official, Josh “basically” opened up a business without notifying anyone, and therefore, he failed to comply with basic business requirements, including: showing the address of the business on the building and entrance, having a smoke detector in the office, having a fire lane, having a minimum 20-foot driveway, and more.

As a result of his negligence, the county official claimed a fire marshal sent three 90-day notices to Josh saying he needed to “come into compliance.” “The fire marshal wasn’t going to issue any more extensions. He was requiring that Josh make a good faith attempt, or make effort, toward receiving a review and permit approval, so that’s what he did,” the official told Radar.

On Nov. 1, representatives for Josh finally attended a planning commission meeting to address the problem and agreed to request a conditional use permit as well as make the necessary changes to the property.
