Kane Brown Breaks Down In Tears While Dedicating CMT Award To His Late Drummer Kenny Dixon — ‘I Love You Man’

Kane Brown tearfully accepted his honoree award at the CMT Artist of the Year following the death of his friend and drummer Kenny Dixon. The “One Thing Right” singer broke down in tears as he spoke about his bandmate that passed away on October 12 in a car accident.

“Thank you all so much. I want to dedicate this to our drummer Kenny," Kane, 25, said while trying to hold back tears. “He started with me coming out of Chattanooga off Facebook. People didn’t think we would make it.”

The country singer broke down in tears as he told the audience, “He was with me the whole time. He was so supportive of me. I love you man. I miss you. The band misses you.”

Kane ended his speech telling his fans, the country community, and everyone listening that he loves them. “Bless you guys, y'all stay safe,” he finished.

Kenny died on October 12 at age 27 in a tragic car accident. Following the news, Kane posted a picture on Instagram from when he was on stage with Kenny. “Love you so much dude!!! You started all of this with me from the start in 2015 when no body else believed we would make it out of Chattanooga playing for 500 people and your last show was in a Fn Stadium my guy," he wrote. “I know you will be watching over us with that red neck accent that we all love and you will never be replaced bro!!! I promise you that!!"

The drummer was going to get married to his fiancée Sarah Hendrick on November 30. The couple already shares a son named Levi.

“Kenny was a member of our family from the very beginning, and our hearts are with his fiancée Sarah, his son and everyone who knew and loved him,” Kane’s band said in a statement to WSB-TV Atlanta. “He was truly one of the greatest and kindest people on and off stage we’ve ever known.”

Fellow country singer, Chris Young, performed the song “Drowning” in honor of Kenny. The song was originally written by Chris for his friend that died in a car accident.
