It all started with a picture Kate shared of herself at the Lakers game with her pal, Stephen Simbari.
"Everyone was pretty tense for the game but apparently I’m just here for the fashion and was enchanted by some particularly fire tube socks #lakers,” she wrote about the game between Lebron James' current and former teams.
In the comments section, a user asked the 45-year-old actress if she was Stephen's mother.

It's not the first time that Kate snarkily responded to a follower. After the 2019 Golden Globes, she shared a throwback photo of her mom and a follower wrote, "Dear heavens, Kate. Not Pete Davidson," referring to the news she and Pete were seen leaving a party together. "No that's my mother. Easy mistake," she quipped.
