Kate Middleton Wears Sexy Lace Nude-Illusion Dress To Royal Variety Performance

Kate Middleton has perfected the balance of regal and chic. On November 18, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William attended the Royal Variety Performance at the Palladium Theatre in London. Kate, 37, wore a sexy lace nude-illusion dress to the event. The event itself helps hundreds of entertainers throughout the UK.

The floor-length gown was a custom Alexander McQueen design. The black lace overlay dress had a sweetheart neckline, and a bold scoop in the back. It cinched at the waist before flaring out at the knee. Kate paired the elegant dress with black stiletto heels.

The Duchess of Cambridge also rocked a smokey eyeshadow with a nude lipstick. Gorgeous gold earrings with a pearl drop design and a simple black clutch completed the glamorous look.

Prince William, 37, looked dapper as ever. The Duke of Cambridge wore a black tuxedo with a white button-down shirt and bowtie. This year marked the third time Prince William and Kate attended, following their appearances in 2014 and 2017.

The Kensington Palace Instagram account shared an image of Queen Elizabeth IIPrince Philip, and Princess Margaret arriving at the Royal Variety Performance in 1952. “The annual Royal Variety Performance is held in aid of the Royal Variety Charity, of which The Queen is Patron. The money raised from the show helps hundreds of entertainers throughout the UK, who need help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or hard times,” read the caption underneath the picture.

It continued, “The origins of the Royal Variety Performance date back to 1912 when King George V and Queen Mary agreed to attend a 'Royal Command Performance' at the Palace Theatre in London, in aid of the Variety Artistes' Benevolent Fund. In July 1919, the second Royal show was performed and was the first to be billed a ‘Royal Variety Performance,’ before becoming an annual event in 1921.” The social media update also included images of Prince William and Kate at their first two Royal Variety Performances.

According to the organization’s website, the Royal Variety Performance is “the entertainment industry's annual fundraising event for the Royal Variety Charity, whose sole-Patron is Her Majesty The Queen. The Royal Variety Performance has been staged since 1912 and is now watched by over 152 million TV viewers worldwide, making it the most successful and longest running entertainment show in the world.”
