Kathie Lee Gifford Returns To The ‘Today’ Show & Gushes About Her Love Life

The segment kicked off to a hilarious start as Kathie found herself struggling to get through security. “Remember me? It’s Kathie,” the former host said as the security guard seized her bottle of wine.

Kathie then came out with a glass of wine in hand and welcomed her friend Hoda, 55, with a huge hug.

The former host was noticeably stunned by the amount of time that had passed since she had last been on the show. “I didn’t realize it’s been seven months since I was here,” Kathie admitted. She then went on to give viewers an update on her life since moving to Nashville, Tennessee, saying that she loved the relaxed attitude of the South.

“There’s a different culture down there. It’s a culture of kindness in Nashville,” Kathie shared. “They are authentically kind. They are joyful, they have so much fun,” she continued. “I wake up and there are church bells ringing all around me. It’s just a different attitude.”

The Daytime Emmy-winning host also revealed that she had been dating but hasn’t quite found love yet.  “I went out on a couple of dates. I just went out with friends to a club to hear my favorite band down there. This sweet guy asked me to dance and I said okay. It was fun because I hadn’t been on a date in 33 years. It’s surreal,” Kathie explained. “The world has changed so much. He was a gentleman. It was fine, it was fun.”

Though Kathie misses her time on Today,  she confessed that she makes it a point not to watch the show. “I haven’t watched the show once,” Kathie said in an interview with PEOPLE.

“I never watched the show when I left Regis. When I leave, I leave with a lot of love in my heart but dreams for the future," she added. "I never look back, you can’t. It will entrap you and you will spend your whole life thinking about what you lost as opposed to what you still have.”
