Katy Perry Mourns The Death Of Her Friend, Music Exec Angelica Cob-Baehler

Katy Perry is grieving. The singer’s close friend, music executive Angelica Cob-Baehler, lost her battle with cancer. Angelica, who was a VP at Columbia Records, played a big part in launching Katy’s career.

Katy shared the loss on Instagram. She described Angelica as “one of my biggest champions and realest friends.”

“Angelica embodied the angel in her name, was a woman of incredible integrity and character, a massive giver, and a DOPE human being,” the singer wrote.

The multiple Grammy award nominee explained what it was like watching her pal, who turned 47 two weeks ago, battle the disease: “She was one of the strongest women I have ever known - fighting her cancer like friggin’ Rocky.”

The American Idol judge also credited Angelica for jump-starting her career. “She ‘stole my files’ from limbo at Columbia Records and brought them to life at Capitol Records. She was like a big sister to me, showing me the ropes and always having my back.” The former music exec also helped launch other music acts like John Mayer and 30 Seconds to Mars, which is Jared Leto's band.

Katy said she waited six days to share the news on social media because “it makes it feel a little too final.”
