Kevin Hart Shares Emotional Video Of Him Struggling To Walk Again After Near-Fatal Car Crash

Kevin Hart opened up about his near-fatal car crash for the first time. The comedian shared a video to Instagram on October 30, which documented his recovery in the hospital, his first steps, and shared what he is looking forward to in the future.

“Basically what you realize is that you're not in control. No matter how much you think you're in control, you're not in control,” Kevin, 40, said in a voice-over at the opening of the video. He shared footage from the accident on September 1 and said, “At the end of the day, it can all be over, man.”

Kevin was found in the passenger seat after the accident occurred. According to reports the actor suffered injuries to his spine and had to have major surgery. He spent 10 days in the hospital before he was released.

In the video, Kevin struggled at the start of his recovery to stand up without a walker and cried during hours of physical therapy before he was able to walk and begin working out.

“When God talks, you gotta listen,” he continued. “I swear, life is funny. Because some of the craziest things that happen to you end up being the thing that you needed most. And in this case, I honestly feel like God basically told me to sit down. When you’re moving too fast and you’re doing too much sometimes you can’t see the things that you’re meant to see.”

Kevin added, “After my accident, I see things differently. I see life from a whole new perspective. My appreciation for life is through the roof. I'm thankful for my family, my friends. I'm thankful for the people that simply ride with me and have been with me. Because you stood by me, my fans. I'm thankful for all of your love and support."

At the end of the video, the actor shared intimate moments as he was able to carry him and wife Eniko Parrish’s son Kenzo and bond with his other children Hendrix and Heaven. Kevin and Eniko, 35, also learned that his estimated recovery time is one year, but they were happy about the news.

“Don’t take things for granted because tomorrow’s not promised,” he said. “I’m thankful for God. I’m thankful for life. I’m thankful for simply still being here.”

The actor was seen out in public for the first time in late October during an outing in Beverly Hills with Jay-Z and other friends. He also reportedly returned to work with his Jumanji co-stars to work on a marketing campaign for the film.
