Kim Kardashian responded to the backlash she received from fans regarding her Kimono Shapewear line. The businesswoman shared a message to her fans on social media and announced that she will be changing the name of her line.
The 38-year-old took to Instagram and revealed that she will be renaming her shapewear brand.
"Being an entrepreneur and my own boss has been one of the most rewarding challenges I’ve been blessed with in my life. What’s made it possible for me after all of these years has been the direct line of communication with my fans and the public," she wrote.
The KKW Beauty owner continued, "I am always listening, learning and growing. I so appreciate the passion and varied perspectives that people bring to me. When I announced the name of my shapewear line, I did so with the best intentions in mind."
"My brands and products are built with inclusivity and diversity at their core and after careful thought and consideration, I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name. I will be in touch soon. Thank you for your understanding and support always," she added.
The mother of four launched the brand on June 26 and was slammed soon after for cultural appropriation. Followers criticized Kim’s use of the word “kimono,” a traditional Japanese dress.
The hashtag #KimOhNo surfaced on Twitter shortly after the collection dropped. "When is she going to learn to stop borrowing from other cultures to make a profit?" one fan wrote on Instagram. "Kimono is not underwear. Kimono is our pride, please change the name," another added.
