Awkward! When Laura Bush’s daughter Barbara wed her fiancé Craig Coyne in Kennebunkport, Maine, on Sunday, Oct. 7, a few members of the political dynasty were noticeably missing, including Laura’s brother-in-law Jeb Bush!
“Well, I think Barbara just kept it a secret, plus so few people were invited. It was just our family and Craig’s family. And we didn’t invite Jeb, or Neil, or any of those Bushes,” Laura told the New York Post of her husband George W. Bush’s family.
The only extended Bush family members in attendance were George’s sister Dorothy Bush Koch, who officiated the ceremony, and his father, George H. W. Bush. Barbara chose to have the wedding at their family home so her 94-year-old grandfather could attend.
“And so we had a wedding outside, looking at the ocean,” Laura shared. “And then we went in and had dinner at the dining room table, there were 20 of us at the dining room table.”

Laura called the wedding “perfect.” “It was Barbara and Craig, her new husband – who we like a lot. And his family and our family,” she said.
Also in attendance was Barbara’s sister Jenna Bush Hager, whose older daughter Mila served as a flower girl along with Craig’s niece Emma. Jenna’s younger daughter Poppy acted as ring bearer.
She “was very proud of being a ring bearer,” Laura revealed. “Of course, the box was empty because they knew that she couldn’t have the ring so Craig had it in his pocket.”
