Leah Messer has been on a downward spiral ever since she was caught on camera slurring her words and passing out from prescription pills. Despite a 30-day stint in rehab for stress and depression, the Teen Mom 2 star lost custody of her twin daughters Ali and Aleeah to her ex-husband Corey Simms. Rumors of drug abuse issues were sparked when Leah slurred her words and fell asleep mid-sentence while on the phone on an episode of Teen Mom 2. Although she agreed to stop taking the anxiety medication soon after the incident, the rumors continued to follow her.
RadarOnline reported in July 2014 that Leah has been abusing prescription painkillers. “Sometimes she drops her girls off with her mom at night and takes painkillers or drinks heavily,” the source said.
After Corey watched her behavior play out on the small screen, he filed for full custody of the twins in mid-2014.
The soon-to-be father of three even made his ex-wife take a court-ordered drug test, which she passed.
In December 2014, Corey’s lawyer Rusty Webb revealed to Radar that Corey and Leah came to a custody agreement where he would receive the girls for three days a week, while she would get them the remaining four. “They’re both very happy with the situation,” the lawyer said. “Everybody is getting along.”
But the couple didn’t get along for long, as Leah reportedly refused to invite Corey and his wife Miranda to their daughters' 5th birthday party. “Leah is upset with Corey and Miranda,” the source said. “She didn’t want to lose any time with the girls.”
Leah’s personal life continued to come crashing down when her then-husband Jeremy Calvert accused her of cheating with her ex-boyfriend Robbie Kidd.
Leah showed her monster mom behavior on TM2 when she spanked Aleeah, fed her daughters at midnight on a school night and cursed in front of them.
On another episode, Corey accused Leah of dropping off the twins to school late, making Ali miss her physical therapy appointment and more.

The MTV star checked into rehab in June 2015 for 30 days for anxiety and depression, despite her reported struggle with drug abuse.
During her stay in rehab, her divorce from her second ex-husband Jeremy Calvert was finalized.
Although Leah claimed rehab helped her become a better mother, In Touch reported that the police was called on her when a teacher spotted her twins not in their car seats.
Leah didn’t waste any time following her relationship with Jeremy, as she began dating new boyfriend T.R. Dues. And Corey wasn’t happy about the new relationship, as he blasted during the reunion special, “Are you dating a new guy that has been around my children? Why do the girls tell me he lives with you and ya’ll sleep together?”
According to In Touch, Leah ultimately lost custody because the twins were always late to school. “The judge looked at the girls’ school records, which show that they’ve been late for school and made the change in custody," the insider said.
