Lela Rochon and husband Antoine Fuqua stepped out for the first time together since the director's cheating scandal with Nicole Murphy made headlines. The couple attended their daughter Asia's performance in the play Into The Woods with family and friends, and they appear to have put Antoine's indiscretions behind them.
Lela, 55, posted several photos of herself and Antoine, 53, with Asia on her Instagram account. "Congratulations to our amazing daughter @asiafuqua on her starring role of Cinderella in #intothewoods you killed it baby girl. We are so proud of you! Shine forever bright," the Waiting To Exhale star captioned the series of snapshots.
After Antoine was photographed kissing Nicole, 51, on vacation in Italy in July, Lela shut down her Instagram and stayed silent as the drama played out. The Hollywood Exes star initially denied any wrongdoing and insisted that the smooch was just a "friendly hello" between "family friends." Days later, she fessed up to the mistake and issued an apology to Lela and her family for any drama or upset she may have caused.
"Without going into the entire situation, I want to apologize to my family, and to Antoine's wife Lela Rochon and to the Fuqua family for what transpired. It was not my intention to be in this situation. I do not condone women kissing or interacting in anyway inappropriately with a married man. I too was once married and I would never intentionally undermine another woman, despite what has been written," Nicole said in a statement.
Eddie Murphy's ex went on The Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday, September 24, and implied that she wasn't aware Antoine was married when they shared their kiss. "It happened. It was a moment that should not have happened. I regret it and I apologized for it and I’m a human being. Basically women this can happen to you. Do your research!" she said in front of the live studio audience.
Lela indicated that she and Antoine were working on their marriage by wearing her wedding ring in a series of photos she posted from Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie's joint 60th birthday in St. Tropez in September.
Lela and Antoine met at a party in Hong Kong. They got engaged in 1998 and wed a year later on April 9, 1999. They share two children.
